In case you don't know, the Laguna is considered by collectors to be
one most desirable Altec home speakers ever made.
It was next to the largest home system made by them with its twin 15" drivers
and large 511 horn.

It's second only to the 820 in both size and value. That system also used
twin 803, but had a smaller 800hz horn (either multicell or sectoral depending
on age). However, the bass drivers were partially horn loaded with a larger
enclosure.

There is a catalog page describing the Laguna on the Hifilit site here:

<<Laguna 생산년도 및 300기(150조를 의미함) 이내 생산說 관련 참고자료>>

Does anyone know what years the Altec Laguna (model 830A) was
in production? Also I am wondering how many were produced.
I have never seen a serial mumber higher than 300.
Has anyone ever removed the grill cloth on one of these?

In looking at a picture of a Metragon, I was taken by how similar certain
of its design features resemble those of my Altec Lagunas.
The laguna came on the market,

I believe, in 1957. It is mentioned in a 1958 Hi Fi magazine for sure,
but I believe I read somewhere that 1957 was the first year.
The Metragon, I am thinking, came out in 1959. I may be wrong.
Anyway,

the Laguna was designed by Glenn of California.
One of my Lagunas has a GLENN stamp on the back.
Could the Metragon and the Laguna have been designed by the
same house? Or did someone influence someone? (note I didn't say copy).
